Residents of the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory accused local deputy from United Russia Vladimir Chenchik of killing two dogs. This was reported in the Temryuk public page on VKontakte.
In the published video, a female voice says that the owners of the animals were relaxing on the farm, and their dogs were with them. “The sheep are over there, they [the dogs] didn’t even run there. We were sitting in the gazebo, and our dogs were running nearby, he [Chenchik] came and just shot two shots at each one,” says the girl.
She said the deputy shot and killed a French bulldog that had lived with the couple for 10 years and a young shepherd named Buran. At the end of the video, the girl approaches the shore of the estuary, where the shepherd lies, and calls out to her pet several times, but he does not respond.
As Chenchik explained to Southern Affairs, the couple “entered the farm unauthorized” while he was away. Upon returning, the deputy’s employee reported that “someone was chasing sheep.” After this, Chenchik took the gun and went to inspect the farm. According to the deputy, there are many stray dogs living nearby, which often attack chickens and sheep.
“What was my state when I saw two dogs chasing my flock? Then they moved towards the ducks. If I had seen people, if I had realized that these were not ownerless animals, I would not have shot in my life, but that’s what I had to do. A woman immediately jumped out of the bushes and started screaming. I feel sorry for the dogs and that they have such owners,” Chenchik explained.
The publication adds that the deputy promised to record a video with his version of what happened. Chenchik believes that the couple had no right to enter the farm, “it’s even written on the gate.”
“Quarantine even more so. At least they kept the dogs on a leash. I understand. But what should I do? Watch my ducks keep tearing up? They also wrote a statement against me,” Chechnik complained.
The regional branch of United Russia suspended the deputy's membership in the party for the duration of the inspection. Secretary of the United Russia Ethics Commission Evgeniy Revenko assured that if the incident is confirmed, Chechnik will be expelled from the party.
