Lawyer: the investigation lifted the arrest from the accounts of the parents of opposition politicians

The investigation lifted the seizure of the pension accounts of the mother of politician Alexei Navalny and the father of FBK director Ivan Zhdanov, imposed as part of the case against FBK. This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to lawyer Veronika Polyakova.

“So far this is only verbal, the court told us that the investigative authorities partially lifted the arrest on the pension accounts of Ivan Zhdanov’s father and lifted the arrest from the mother of Alexei Navalny. [The arrest has been lifted - OVD-Info ] only from pension accounts, because by law it is prohibited to seize pension accounts. Investigators confirm that this is indeed the case, but there is no official court decision on this. The investigative authorities came to their senses and corrected their mistake themselves,” MBKh Media quotes the lawyer.

• In March 2020, information appeared about the blocking of about a dozen bank accounts belonging to members of the Navalny and Zhdanov families. According to the politician, the blocking is related to the “FBK case.”
• On August 3, 2019, a criminal case was opened against the Anti-Corruption Foundation founded by Navalny for money laundering. The investigation believes that in 2016–2018, a group of people, including FBK employees, received more than 75.5 million rubles from unknown sources, and then, “disguising their criminal origin,” deposited this money into FBK accounts.
