Rosneft reported that she sued RBC to protect the business reputation in connection with the publication, entitled “Ryazan Chop received a share in the former Venezuelan project“ Rosneft ”.
Now this publication of May 14 is entitled in a different way: “Rosneft, Rosneft through Chop, received“ Roszarubezhneft ”.
The oil company believes that “this statement” “mislead the public, representatives of the market and regulators,” since the true essence of the transaction was the complete termination of Rosneft in Venezuela with their sale and the transition under the control of the company belonging to the Russian Federation.
Rosneft writes that the editors of RBC “used a provocative statement by creating the impression of the previously announced transaction on the full exit of Rosneft from a business in Venezuela, provoking a wave of misinformation in print and electronic media.”
Rosneft claims that the editors of RBC refused to refute the “provocative information” and apologize. She believes that this information disorients the market and causes it “significant material damage”.
The official representative of RBC told The Bell that the publication was based exclusively on official documents and the publication was ready to defend its position. “RBC has not yet received a lawsuit by Rosneft, as soon as the documents arrive, we will be able to comment on their content from a legal point of view,” the publication said.
The first attention to the structure of the transaction for the sale of the National Oil Consortium (NNA), through which Rosneft owned a large extract in Venezuela, drew attention to Interfax. Based on the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, the agency wrote that the owner of 80% of the NNC was the Chop RN-Obrana-Ryazan LLC. At the end of April, this ChOP turned into the ownership of the state "Roszarubezhneft".
The article of RBC, published on the same day, contains a detailed comment by Rosneft that all assets and operations of Rosneft in Venezuela were sold, closed or eliminated.
In March, against the backdrop of US sanctions, Rosneft said that she was getting rid of assets in Venezuela and enters into an agreement with the company, 100% of the Russian government. In exchange, the company received 9.6% of its own shares. After that, it became known that the Federal Property Management Agency established Roszarubezhneft just on the day of the announcement of Rosneft about the departure from Venezuela.
Rosneft seriously entered Venezuela under Sechin and in recent years built relations with her on forwarding contracts (we wrote in detail about the company's activities in Venezuela here ). This gave the company the opportunity to continue the supply of oil from the country even in the conditions of sanctions, referring to previously concluded agreements, and return most of the debt. However, at the beginning of this year, the United States consistently imposed sanctions against two Rosneft traders for promoting the Nicholas Maduro regime.
Rosneft is not the first time to sue RBC: by 2016, a giant lawsuit refers to 3.179 billion rubles not only to the publication itself, but also to the authors of the article of the article.
Rosneft did not like the publication “Sechin asked the government to protect Rosneft from BP, the key approval of which was that when preparing for privatization of 19.5% of Rosneft, the head of the company Igor Sechin proposed to oblige the potential buyer not to conclude a joint -stock agreement with the BP in order to prevent the blockpacquer. The company estimated the lost Goodwill with an amount of 3 billion rubles, but the transaction eventually passed successfully.
During the trials, the amount of compensation, threatening RBC by bankruptcy, was reduced to 390 thousand rubles, and then the parties went to a settlement agreement. According to the results of RBC, she published a message with an apology on behalf of the leadership and journalists.
By 2016, Sechin’s lawsuit refer to Vedomosti for the publication of “Sechin Viet Nest in Barvikha”. The court ruled that the publication violates the right to protect her personal life, it was removed from the website of the publication. In the same year, Sechin won a lawsuit against Novaya Gazeta, forcing her to delete the publication with the assumption that the head of Rosneft can supposedly be the owner or tenant of the luxurious yacht, the cost of which is many times higher than his annual salary.
In 2014, Sechin filed a lawsuit against the Russian Forbes, its publisher, as well as to Komsomolskaya Pravda for the top-25 heads of Russian income companies, in which the head of Rosneft took the first line with $ 50 million. Sechin won, the refutation was published in 2015.
Also, by 2014, Sechin's court with Vedomosti regarding the column of Kirill Kharatyan with the statement that the top manager of Rosneft allegedly makes decisions for the state. This court also lost the publication, but the refutation was published with fragments of information recognized as deflaiming the honor, dignity and business reputation of Sechin.
