Google users began to ask the search engine about the economic consequences of the pandemic more often than about the coronavirus itself. This is the trend of the last few weeks.
The study was conducted by Axios, Google Trends and research firm Schema. Experts analyzed more than 8,000 search queries in six countries - the US, Canada, UK, Australia, India and Singapore.
People have accepted the fact of the presence of coronavirus in their lives, even despite the increase in deaths. Now their main need is to learn more about the unemployment situation and jobs, holidays, government assistance.
The peak of queries like “what is coronavirus” fell on January-February.
Today in the US, users are more likely to search for "Facebook" than the coronavirus.
There are surprisingly few inquiries about the impact of the coronavirus on income in the UK, probably due to effective government assistance programs.
According to experts, changes in search queries in different countries depend on local outbreaks of infection, on financial support programs, as well as on media reports.
