Human rights activist and activist Sergei Mokhnatkin has died. Journalist Viktor Shenderovich wrote about this on Facebook.
Mokhnatkin was 66 years old.
Mokhnatkin is known as a regular participant in opposition protests and as a human rights activist. Since 2012, he has led the Tver branch of the movement "For Human Rights".
Mokhnatkin twice spent time in a colony, both times he was sentenced on charges of assaulting police officers at protest rallies. During the second term, the activist was convicted in two new cases while in the colony - for insulting an employee and for disorganizing her work. Mokhnatkin himself repeatedly complained about beatings and torture. He was released in 2018.
