Donald Trump said on Twitter that the United States will add the Antifa movement to the list of terrorist organizations.
The US president also blamed the unrest in Minneapolis on "radical left anarchists."
"Congratulations to our National Guard for the great job they did immediately after arriving in Minneapolis last night. The anarchists led by Antifa were quickly stopped. The mayor should have done this the first night and there would have been no problem!" he wrote.
Mass protests in Minneapolis began on May 25 after the death of 46-year-old African American George Floyd, who was killed by a police officer during his arrest. The protests, accompanied by riots and clashes with the police, spread to many US cities. A curfew was declared in a number of them and National Guard troops were deployed.
