The High Qualification Board of Judges has announced a second competition for the post of chairman of the Moscow City Court. This is reported by Vedomosti.
The powers of the current head of the Moscow City Court Olga Yegorova expire in October. Initially, the competition was announced in mid-April, but in the end it did not take place due to a lack of candidates. Egorova herself did not participate in the competition and did not comment on the reasons for the refusal. Vedomosti's source in the judiciary did not rule out that Egorova would still take part in the second competition.
Experts noted that recently there have been signs of a weakening of Yegorova's positions: the capital's judges were not included in the Second Cassation Court, which checks the decisions of Moscow judges. And the Court of Cassation itself issued several rulings against Egorova.
- Olga Egorova has been the head of the Moscow City Court since 1999, she was re-elected to this position three times. In 2014, she was the only candidate in the competition.
