The European Central Bank (ECB) today again kept rates, but increased the emergency asset purchase program by 600 billion euros. Its volume will reach 1.35 trillion euros, and the buying horizon will be extended for at least a year, until June next year.
The size of the increase is more than expected by Bloomberg experts (500 million euros). The aim of the program is to reduce the cost of borrowing at the level of member states.
After the decision of the ECB, the euro showed a small jump against the dollar - from 1.120 to 1.124 euros per dollar.
