June 5, Moscow. On the Ecologist Day, the Federal Ecological Operator and the All-Russian Popular Front held a press conference at which they launched the Ecobot pilot project to collect batteries in schools and the formation of environmental habits among schoolchildren.
The project was supported by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov.
As part of the Ecobota project, during the summer of 2020, special containers for collecting batteries will be installed in schools in pilot regions, information posters and methodological materials are placed. Schools will be able to conclude an agreement on a free basis for the export and disposal of the collected batteries.
The project will be attended by students and teachers of 3300 schools in Moscow, Moscow, Kirov, P. Mirny (Kirov region), Saratov, village of Mikhailovsky (Saratov Region), Izhevsk, Kambarks (Udmurtia), Kurgan, Shchiye (Kurgan Region), Krasnodar, Stavropol, Ufa and St. Petersburg.

The project was joined by: FSBIU DO “Federal Children's Ecological and Biological Center”, Russian movement of schoolchildren, the All-Russian Society for Nature Security, a manufacturer of Batteries Batteries Batteries, and a processor of batteries Group of Companies Megapolisresurs.
“The culture of a responsible and rational attitude to natural resources should be formed from childhood. A careful attitude to nature in the minds of children and the rational use of processing products will help us to build a safe and effective system of waste management I and II in the country, ”said Maxim Korolkov, First Deputy General Director for the implementation of environmental projects of the Federal Ecological Operator FSUE.
“Schools have been chosen for two reasons: firstly, the main consumers of batteries are families with children, and secondly, it is at school that it is necessary to form environmental thinking since childhood. After all, the large role of the project is precisely in improving the level of environmental literacy and the formation of a responsible attitude to the environment. I want to note that the creation of a separate accumulation, collecting and disposal system for spent batteries is another step on the path of introducing separate gathering in Russia, ”said the initiator of the project, expert of the Ecology thematic site, Alexander Kogan.
Of the annually sold in Russia, 20 thousand tons of batteries manage to collect and process no more than 3%. The remaining 97% fall on the landfill. The Ecobot project will allow children to contribute to the organization of the collection, export and disposal system of spent batteries.
