The Irkutsk regional court satisfied the claim of lawyer Valery Teterin to invalidate the clause of the order of the governor of the subject, allowing mass events to be held in Irkutsk in only one place. About this writes “Siberia. Realities".
The current version of the document provides that the authorities are ready to coordinate mass actions in the city only on one site, namely on Labor Square, which can accommodate up to 1,500 people.
“In fact, this decision of the court is not very surprising. Because the other day the Constitutional Court once again spoke out, checking the constitutionality of the law of the Samara region. And there it was forbidden to hold mass events within a radius of one hundred and fifty meters from educational institutions, hospitals, religious sites, and so on. And the Constitutional Court once again reminded that regional authorities should not restrict the right to freedom of peaceful assembly. They have the right to establish only additional guarantees. The Constitutional Court just said in these specially designated places that they should be conducive to holding peaceful assemblies, contribute to the achievement of their goals, ”Teterin quotes the publication.
