The court sent a 53-year-old plumber from the city of Kashira in the Moscow region to a pre-trial detention center in connection with a series of rapes and murders. This was reported on the website of the Investigative Committee for the Moscow Region.
According to investigators, the suspect committed his first crime in 2010. “As a rule, he entered households,” and then raped and killed women, according to the Investigative Committee’s website. Investigators found that in January, a plumber climbed onto the second floor of a private house and raped a 10-year-old girl.
The man was detained a day earlier on suspicion of three murders and rapes in 2013, 2015 and 2020. During interrogation, he admitted that he had committed seven murders and rapes.
According to information from Moskovsky Komsomolets, the arrested person’s name is Andrei Yezhov.
To investigate the case, forensic scientists conducted a DNA examination, the Investigative Committee noted in the release. Investigators are now checking the plumber's involvement in other similar crimes.
