Over the past day, 8,246 new cases of coronavirus infection in 83 regions have been confirmed in Russia, the operational headquarters reports . The total number of identified cases of infection in the country reached 537 210.

143 lethal cases were recorded per day. Over the entire period, 7,091 people died in the country from coronavirus.

Most new cases in Moscow-1359, in the Moscow region-689, in St. Petersburg-252, in the Sverdlovsk region-233.

Over the past day, 4,489 people were discharged, the total number of recovered patients increased to 284,539.

The Chinese authorities reported an outbreak of an unknown virus on December 31.
