The Coronavirus test gave a positive result, the report said. 79-year-old Nazarbayev is in self-isolation and "continues to work remotely," the press service says.
Nursultan Nazarbayev headed Kazakhstan from the last years of the Soviet era until March 2019, when he announced his resignation from the post of president. The new head of state was the former chairman of the Senate Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev.
