Ekho Moskvy was fined 260 thousand for an interview with a political scientist

The magistrate of the court district No. 416 of the Presnensky district of Moscow fined the Ekho Moskvy radio station for 260 thousand rubles. The reason was an interview with political scientist Valery Soloviev in which he stated that the authorities were hiding the real death rate from coronavirus. The court saw in these statements the presence of unreliable information (part 9 of article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). This was reported by MBKh Media with reference to Vitaly Ruvinsky, editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy website.

On March 20, Roskomnadzor demanded that Ekho Moskvy remove the recording and transcript of the Special Opinion program with political scientist Valery Soloviev. Then the department did not say which words in this program it claims.

  • On April 2, the Prosecutor General's Office asked Roskomnadzor to prosecute Ekho Moskvy under the fake news article (Art. 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) because of a material about an outbreak in the Orenburg colony. At the same time, Echo of Moscow in Orenburg is not a structural subdivision of Echo of Moscow.
