The Oryol prosecutor's office began an investigation after an interview with a local infectious disease specialist

On June 19, the prosecutor's office of the Oryol region began checking "based on the arguments of the interview" of the infectious disease specialist Victoria Adoneva. This was reported on the website of the department.

Victoria Adonyeva, chief freelance infectious disease specialist of the Oryol region and head of the hepatological center of the city hospital named after I.I. Botkina, the day before, in an interview with the local online publication Oryol News, spoke about the situation in the hospital and warned of a possible increase in the number of cases after voting on amendments to the Constitution.

“There will definitely be [an increase in the number of cases - OVD-Info ]. But we have nowhere to put it. Let whoever wants to vote, but there are no more beds in the city,” Victoria Adonyeva said.

After the publication of the interview, the regional authorities asked Denis Volin, editor-in-chief of Oryol News, to delete part of the interview with Adoneva, including a fragment where she talks about a possible increase in the incidence after the vote. “There were no direct threats. They hinted that it would be better in the interests of the doctor to remove part of the text that says about voting, ” Volin explained to Open Media.
