Kaliningrad: Residents announced a hunger strike because of housing problems

In Kaliningrad, five residents declared a hunger strike because of the impossibility of getting housing in which they lived for 20 years.

"We cannot become the owners of our housing for 20 years. We are due to the inaction of the officials of the Kaliningrad region legally homeless people. We have passed all officials repeatedly. As the last remedy for despair, we declare a hunger strike," the video image of local residents to governor Anton Alikhanov said.

Families received apartments 20 years ago from the agricultural enterprise of the Ministry of Defense in the buildings of the former headquarters and the barracks at 1A factory. Officials promised that the buildings would receive the status of a housing stock and employees of the enterprise will be able to apply for apartments in the property. But later, the state farm of the Ministry of Defense was handed over to the successor - JSC Svetlogorsk, said New Kaliningrad.

One of the participants of the video, Lyubov Nikitina, said that now the residents of the house do not hope to get apartments in the property and ask "at least they will issue hiring agreements" to register. Nikitina explained that families announced a hunger strike after they received unsubscribes from the Ministry of Defense, the housing stock and the reception of the Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Anton Alikhanov.
