Yekaterinburg police officers were released from house arrest in the case of rape of a girl in an official car

The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg released from house arrest policemen Vadim Mustafin, Andrei Bessarabov and Vyacheslav Tropin, accused of raping a local resident. This is reported by E1.ru with reference to lawyer Alexei Bushmakov.

According to the publication, the measure of restraint for the accused was changed to a ban on communicating with each other, with witnesses and the victim.

According to the lawyer, the girl is under psychological pressure that the security forces are at large. “When the police were in pre-trial detention or under house arrest, she lived calmly, but now she is afraid, knowing that they are freely walking the streets. In addition, the defense lawyer of one of the defendants, Svetlana Bragina, threatened the girl with deportation from the country due to her lack of registration,” Bushmakov explained.

In addition, he added, the defense of the security forces is trying to reclassify the case of rape as sex by mutual consent, so that there is no crime: “They believe that the victim provided intimate services, so it was possible to rape her. Since she was not registered and committed an offense herself, she should be expelled from the country altogether.”

Mustafin, Bessarabov and Tropin were detained in August 2019. According to investigators, patrol officers detained a 22-year-old native of Kazakhstan. The girl was put in a service UAZ and raped.

The police officers were fired and charged under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code (rape committed by a group of persons) and under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code (other actions of a sexual nature). As the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported , their chiefs were also dismissed.
