In Stavropol, the court overturned the decision to extend the preventive measure for a protest participant in Magas

The Stavropol Regional Court overturned the decision of the Essentuki City Court, according to which Zarifa Sautiyeva, a participant in the protests in Magas, was extended the measure of restraint. This was reported by lawyer Bilan Dzugeav on Facebook.

“Today, following my complaint, the Stavropol Regional Court overturned the decision of the Essentuki City Court, by which Zarifa was extended the period of detention until June 25, 2020 due to procedural violations committed by the judge. It's a good news. The bad news is that so far Zarifa has not been released anyway, because her term has already been extended beyond June 25th. But it’s still good that the court of appeal heeded and drew attention to the violations committed in Yessentuki, including the fact that court sessions were illegally held behind closed doors, and also that she was taken to court, endangering her health.” writes the lawyer.

• On June 9, the Essentuki City Court extended Sautiyeva's detention by two weeks.
• In the wake of the protests that took place in March 2019, Sautiyeva is charged with organizing violence dangerous to life and health of government officials (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code with the application of part 3 of article 33 of the Criminal Code), as well as participation in an extremist community (part 2 article 282.1 of the Criminal Code).
• Sautiev has been in custody since July 12, 2019.
• In September 2018, the authorities of Ingushetia and Chechnya signed an agreement to change the border between the republics, after which protests began in Ingushetia. On March 26, about 10,000 people came out to a rally in Magas. About two thousand protesters remained on the square all night. In the morning they began to be dispersed, as a result of which clashes broke out between the security forces and the protesters .
• Based on the results of the rallies, the UK opened a criminal case on incitement to mass riots (part 3 of article 212 of the Criminal Code) and the use of violence dangerous to life and health against law enforcement officers (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code). More than 20 people were sentenced to various terms. Sautiyeva and seven other people were accused of organizing the use of dangerous violence against government officials (part 2 of article 318 of the Criminal Code with the use of part 3 of article 33 of the Criminal Code), as well as of involvement in the activities of an extremist community.
