Deputy head of the Ministry of Education and Science was detained in the case of fraud of 40 million rubles

Updated. In the Tverskoy court, RIA Novosti confirmed that Deputy Minister of Science Marina Lukashevich had been detained, and the investigation is asking to arrest her.

The police detained two suspects in the case of fraud for 40 million rubles allocated from the budget for the Ministry of Education and Science. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to Interfax and TASS sources , one of the detainees is Deputy Science Minister Marina Lukashevich.

“In 2016, the head of a commercial organization, having received budgetary funds, concluded a number of contracts <...> for the performance of work in the interests of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, while not having the intention to fulfill its obligations in full,” the message says. The customer was provided with results that “knowingly do not comply with the terms of the contracts.” The work was accepted by "an accomplice of the suspect, who held a senior position" in the Ministry of Education and Science, the police said.

The ministry told Interfax that it was providing "all necessary assistance" to the investigation.
