In Yekaterinburg, the local investigative department began an investigation after a video appeared of a girl with a knife trying to help her mother in a fight, the department’s press service reports . The inspection is also being carried out by the local Commissioner for Children's Rights Igor Morokov, RIA Novosti reports.
According to preliminary data from the Investigative Committee, a conflict between a man and a woman occurred in front of the child. Investigators believe that the girl found herself in conditions that “threaten her physical and mental health.”
The Ombudsman said that all services that are related to issues of education and parental responsibilities “act within the framework of their powers.”
“Specialists at the Family and Children Assistance Center have already begun their work to study the situation in the family. As far as I know, work is underway with my mother to clarify the situation. Then decisions will be made. The most important thing is not to harm the child and make the right, informed decision,” Morokov said.
In Russia, since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of complaints of domestic violence has sharply increased . At the end of March, State Duma deputy Oksana Pushkina said that with the introduction of quarantine, the co-authors of the law on the prevention of domestic violence began to receive more complaints about abuse of older people.
