The Central Election Commission approved the voting results on amendments to the Constitution. 77.92% of voters voted in favor

The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation (CEC) has approved the results of the all-Russian vote on amendments to the Constitution, the CEC press service reports .

At a meeting on July 3, the Central Election Commission adopted a resolution stating that the amendments were supported by 77.92% of voters (57.7 million Russians), and 21.27% (15.7 million) were against the changes. The final voter turnout was 67.97%.

According to the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova, no complaints about the conduct of voting requiring consideration by the working group were received. She also noted that the Central Election Commission fulfilled its main task - “ensuring the reliability and legitimacy of the voting results.”

“The voting was free, open, as democratic and fair as possible. Its results are legitimate and indisputable,” Pamfilova said.

According to the results of a June Levada Center survey, 25% of respondents said they would not take part in the vote. Of these, 38% refused to vote on the amendments because they did not believe in the integrity of the vote, 32% believed that nothing depended on their vote. 22% did not vote because they did not agree with the amendments. 12% of respondents said they consider it dangerous to go to polling stations during the coronavirus pandemic.

July 1 was the last and main day of voting on amendments to the Constitution. Voting began on June 25 and lasted all week.
