The text of the Constitution with amendments is published

Amendments to the Constitution entered into force. The Basic Law with the amendments has been published on the portal of legal information.

“Adopted by a popular vote on December 12, 1993 with changes approved during the all -Russian vote on July 1, 2020,” the document says.

The correction on amendments took place from June 25 to July 1. The CEC claims that 77.92% (more than 57 million people) voted for changing the constitution. During the vote, many violations were reported , for example, some managed to vote two or more times. Despite this, the head of the CEC Ella Pamfilova said that there were no violations that could affect the result of the vote.

In total, more than 40 changes were made to the Constitution. In particular, Vladimir Putin’s presidential terms are reset, which allows him to “be elected” twice and be the president until 2036. Also, the main law of the country is now prescribed the priority of the Constitution over international law, and the Constitutional Court will be able to block the execution of decisions of international organizations. In addition, the former presidents are now guaranteed lifelong immunity, and only the union of a man and a woman is considered a marriage.
