The Commission on Freedom of Information of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of the Russian Federation called the case of the Pskov journalist Svetlana Prokopieva absurd. The commission's statement is published on the HRC website.
In addition, the commission is outraged by the prosecutor's office's demand to sentence Prokopyev to six years in prison, the statement said.
We are waiting for the verdict, but we also express our sympathy in advance to other victims of the Pskov prosecutor's office, which today has shown its complete incompetence. We hope that the court will be more professional than the prosecution.
