In the spring of 2018, Dmitriev was acquitted in two articles: about depraved actions in relation to a minor person and the manufacture of children's pornography, but the Supreme Court of Karelia canceled the sentence and sent the case to revise. And soon a 62-year-old historian who opened Sandarmokh was arrested according to a new, even more difficult and terrible article (“violent actions of a sexual nature in relation to a person who has not reached 14 years of age”). According to this article, he threatens up to 20 years.
Dmitriev’s colleagues are sure: he is pursued for his work. He has been looking for places of mass executions in the north-west of Russia for 30 years, finds them and restores the memory of the executed.
Hundreds of scientists and artists are in defense of Dmitriev. Russian and foreign. All of them require the release of Dmitriev in this falsified case. We declare a solidarity marathon.
