Judge of the 2nd Western District Military Court Andrei Morozov wrote in his verdict to Pskov journalist Svetlana Prokopyeva that she partially admitted guilt. Vitaly Cherkasov, a lawyer for the human rights group Agora, who defended Prokopyeva, told Mediazona that she did not say that.

“At the court hearing, the defendant Prokopyeva partially admitted her guilt and testified that she has a regular author’s program on the radio “Echo of Moscow in Pskov,” which is broadcast every Wednesday,” the verdict says.

The day before, on July 6, the court fined Prokopyeva 500 thousand rubles in the case of justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) because of a statement on the radio about Mikhail Zhlobitsky. At the end of October 2018, a student blew himself up in the reception area of ​​the Arkhangelsk FSB department.

The journalist said that the state, using violence, itself pushes young people towards radicalism. The prosecutor's office demanded that Prokopyeva be sentenced to six years in prison.
