The Lefortovo Court of Moscow appointed the former journalist of Kommersant and Vedomosti, adviser to the head of Roskosmos, Ivan Safronov, one month and 30 days of arrest. So it will expire on September 6th.
At the request of the investigation and the prosecution, the meeting was held behind closed doors.
Officially, charges should be filed on July 13. So far, he has the status of a suspect under Article 275 of the Criminal Code “Treason”. The FSB believes that he worked for the intelligence of one of the NATO countries: he collected and transmitted information constituting a state secret about military-technical cooperation, defense and security. Before the meeting, Safronov announced that he did not admit guilt.
Safronov's case is being conducted by Andrey Krekov, an investigator for especially important cases of the FSB Investigation Department. The interests of the suspect were represented in court by five lawyers: Ivan Pavlov, Dmitry Katchev, Sergey Malyukin, Oleg Eliseev and Evgeny Smirnov.
