The State Duma accused YouTube of “manipulating the so-called release of information” about voting on the Constitution

The State Duma commission to investigate alleged foreign interference in the affairs of the Russian Federation believes that YouTube manipulated public opinion about voting on amendments to the Constitution. This was reported on the website of the State Duma.

“If you type the query “voting for amendments to the Constitution” on YouTube, then a whole selection of negative materials is immediately issued,” the head of the commission, Vasily Piskarev, is quoted in the message (spelling and punctuation preserved).

According to Piskarev, who is also quoted by RIA Novosti, from June 3 to July 1, "foreign information resources" distributed 200 fake voting messages. The commission sent its information to the Prosecutor General's Office.

The commission also considered that it had discovered “facts of the dissemination of destructive, inaccurate and provocative information” about voting in the publications Current Time, Meduza, Deutsche Welle, Open Media, MBKh-Media, Radio Liberty, Russkaya BBC Service, Voice of America.

• Piskarev already spoke about this at the end of June and at the beginning of July 2020, he cited almost the same list of media outlets and also said that he had sent the commission’s materials to the Prosecutor General’s Office. At the same time, it was also said about 200 fakes allegedly found by the commission.
• In the fall of 2019, Piskarev, listing all the same publications, accused them of violating election laws.
