Group24 activists were arrested again - now under the article of displaying Nazi paraphernalia

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested Group 24 activists Mahmadjon Rakhmatjoni and Shobudin Badalov for 15 days. This was reported by a lawyer from OVD-Info, Vasily Kushnir, who represented the interests of the activists in court.

Mahmadjon Rahmatjoni and Shobudin Badalov were found guilty under the article on propaganda or demonstration of Nazi paraphernalia (part 1 of article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The reason for this was the image of Hitler on the poster of the activists, with whom they participated in a picket on Red Square. The poster had the inscription "The difference between dictators", under which were two photographs: Hitler and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon.

Lawyer Vasily Kushnir said that the judge interrupted him when Kushnir explained why there was no reason to consider this poster as Nazi paraphernalia. The lawyer also noted that the judge imposed the maximum possible punishment and did not take into account the personal circumstances of the detainees - for example, one of the arrested is raising four children.

The day before, Mahmadjon Rahmatjoni and Shobudin Badalov were detained at the exit from the special detention center, where they were serving 15 days of administrative arrest, appointed under the article on violation of the rules for participation in the action (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).

• On June 5, the Tverskoy Court fined the activists 15,000 rubles each and 15 days of arrest for an action on Red Square. They were found guilty of violating the rules for holding a public event (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and disobeying the requirements of police officers (19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The activists were fined for the first offense and arrested for the second. The protesters opposed the participation of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in the parade dedicated to the victory in World War II.
