In Minsk and some other cities of Belarus, protests began after the Belarusian CEC refused to register with presidential candidates Viktor Babariko and Valery Tskopkalo.

According to Radio Liberty, in Minsk people began to spontaneously gather in various places. On Independence Avenue, a column of several hundred people began to move. Motorists will be alarm as a protester. The police partially blocked the avenue and the beginning of the detention.

In addition to Minsk, protests are also held in Brest, Mogilev, Gomel, Grodno, Molodechno and other cities of Belarus. They participate from several tens to several hundred people, writes TUT.BY.

According to the latest data from the Belarusian human rights center "Vesna", about 190 people were detained throughout the country, most of them in Minsk. Among the detainees there are journalists. Some protesters entered into clashes with riot police.

• The presidential election in Belarus will be held on August 9. They registered five candidates. Including the current president Alexander Lukashenko and Svetlana Tikhanovskaya - the wife of the opposition blogger Sergei Tikhanovsky, arrested in the case of violence against police officers.
• Viktor Babariko and Valery Temkkops, whom the CEC refused to register with presidential candidates, was considered the most serious rivals of Lukashenko. Tsepkino was refused after the CEC has rejected most of the signatures in his support. Babariko was refused under the pretext of undeclared property in offshore.
• Babarico, like Tikhanovsky, is in custody. He is accused of laundering money, evasion of taxes and giving bribes. His son was also arrested, he was charged with tax evasion.
