115 protest participants in Minsk are awaiting trial

Protocols on administrative violations were drawn up by the Minsk police for 115 participants of the protest action held on July 14.

“In relation to 115 citizens who actively participated in an unauthorized mass event, disobeyed the lawful demands of law enforcement officers, administrative protocols have now been drawn up for violating the law on mass events, as well as disobeying the lawful demands of law enforcement officers. All materials have been sent to the courts of the city of Minsk,” said Ivan Kubrakov, head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

According to him, "measures are being taken to identify all the offenders." He recalled that a criminal case had been initiated after the protest action, and added that six police officers were injured, four of them were hospitalized.

Kubrakov noted that all the detainees were citizens of Belarus, mostly from 14 to 30 years old. According to him, groups of demonstrators concentrated in certain places: “It was clear that there are moderators who lead these particular groups. Most likely via the internet. It can be seen that there were calls to a certain place. That is, the controllability of these groups was visible.”
