More than 200 people were detained in Belarus during protests

On the evening of July 14, people who were dissatisfied with the results of the registration of presidential candidates took to the streets of the cities of Belarus. Of the seven applicants, the CEC registered only five. Viktor Babariko and Valery Tsepkops did not receive candidates certificates.

As TUT.BY reports, protests were held in Minsk, Brest, Gomel, Grodno, Mogilev. Mostly they took place in the center, but, for example, in Minsk, people gathered on the outskirts. The participants lined up in the "Solidarity chain", the passing cars signaling the cars, people in response clapped their hands. The shares were accompanied by detentions with the use of force and skirmishes with the police. Without detention, there were only in Grodno and Mogilev. According to human rights activists, only in Minsk in the evening of July 14, more than 150 people were detained. As of 01:30 July 15, at least 215 detainees throughout the country were reported.

In Minsk, groups of people began to gather at about 19:00 at the beginning of Independence Avenue. People lined up in the "chain of solidarity" and moved towards Yakub Kolas. Another group of people moved from the Square of Yakub Kolas towards the circus. GAI employees blocked Independence Avenue - from Independence Square to Kozlov Street. The detentions began almost immediately. Most protesters were detained in the area of ​​Victory Square, at the circus, on Nemiga.

“People are detained very hard-when someone is trying to run away, hooks under his knees, a person falls on the asphalt. They can hit the elbow in the face, wring their hands, ”Tut.by correspondent reported from the scene. Journalists were also detained, they were released after checking the documents.

The protest in Minsk continued until late at night. For several hours, six metro stations were closed.
