The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on the use of violence against a police officer (part 1 of article 318 of the Criminal Code) against Hussein Najafov, who was detained on July 15 on Tverskaya Street due to a protest near the Azerbaijani embassy. This is reported on their website by the department of the Investigative Committee for Moscow, as well as REN TV .
“According to the investigation, on the afternoon of July 15, 2020, near Tverskaya Street in the city of Moscow, a native of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while suppressing his illegal actions to participate in an unauthorized event near the embassy, used violence against a representative of the authorities, which caused the employee a closed head injury, concussion brain and bruises,” writes SK.
At the same time, REN TV erroneously indicates on its website that Nadzhafov was detained at a rally against amendments to the Constitution, which took place on the same day in the center of Moscow.
Not far from the Azerbaijani embassy in Moscow, on July 15, were detained several participants in an uncoordinated protest rally dedicated to the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia . The reason for the detentions was the flags, which at that moment were rolled up.
On July 17, the Presnensky District Court of Moscow found Nadzhafov guilty under the article on participation in an uncoordinated action that interfered with the movement of vehicles and pedestrians (part 6.1 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). The reasons for this decision and the punishment imposed on the protester are currently unknown: the court has not yet published a ruling on the case.
