A participant in the protest against the arrest of Sergei Furgal was detained in Birobidzhan

In Birobidzhan (Jewish Autonomous Region), on July 18, a participant in a protest against the arrest of the governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Furgal, was detained. This was reported by Dvnovosti.

The name of the detainee has not been reported. It is also unknown whether he has already been released from the police department. The arrest was carried out by people in civilian clothes after the action itself.

“The police decided to detain the activist after a peaceful protest in which people spoke out in support of the Khabarovsk Territory. They didn’t dare drag away the most active person at the protest itself, but did it after people calmly went home,” Maxim Kukushkin, candidate for governor of the Jewish Autonomous Region from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, wrote on his Instagram.

Judging by the video published by the politician, there could have been more detainees.

The police did not interfere with the protesters, and there were no arrests.
• Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal was detained on July 9 as part of a criminal case under article of murder. The next day, Furgal was sent to a pre-trial detention center until September, Mediazona reports . According to the prosecution, the official organized the murders and attempted murders of entrepreneurs in 2004–2005, when he himself was engaged in business. The Moscow City Court rejected an appeal against Furgal's arrest.
