In Moscow, a transgender activist was arrested for 14 days due to an action against Mizulina’s bill

The Tverskoy Court of Moscow arrested transgender activist Polina Simonenko for 14 days because of an action against amendments to the Family Code that would prohibit transgender people from marrying and adopting children. This was reported by the LGBT+ Faction of the Civil Society movement.

Simonenko was found guilty of repeated violation of the rules for holding rallies (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). OVD-Info reports that the activist was beaten in court while trying to escape from the police, and her lawyer Konstantin Boykov’s jacket was torn .

“In the men’s cell, Polina will face humiliation and bullying from staff and fellow inmates. Possible violence. This is disgusting,” the LGBT+ Faction emphasizes.

Earlier, because of an action against Elena Mizulina’s bill, Civil Society activist Mila Zemtsova was fined 20 thousand rubles. She says that she did not participate in the pickets and came there as a correspondent for the Volnitsa agency. The girl had a press card.

In July, several senators, led by Mizulina, proposed changing the Family Code. In particular, they want to prohibit “persons of the same sex, including those who have changed their sex” from marrying and adopting children.
