The United States denied entry into the country for Kadyrov's wife and two daughters

The US State Department has imposed sanctions against Kadyrov and his family due to human rights violations in the Chechen Republic, according to the website of the foreign department.

This decision of the State Department implies a ban on entry into the United States for Kadyrov, as well as his wife Medni Kadyrova and daughters Aishat and Khadizhat.

“This decision is due to Kadyrov’s participation in gross violations of human rights in Chechnya. The Department has credible information that Kadyrov is responsible for numerous gross human rights violations committed over more than a decade, including torture and extrajudicial killings,” US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo said in a statement.

Speaker of the Chechen Parliament Magomed Daudov also responded to the State Department's decision, calling on American politicians to "keep silent about 'human rights'" against the backdrop of "events taking place in the United States." “In the Chechen Republic, human and civil rights have been elevated to the rank of priority state tasks,” Daudov emphasized.

In 2017, the US Treasury placed Kadyrov on the “Magnitsky list” for human rights violations. Those on the Magnitsky list are prohibited from entering the United States and keeping assets in American banks.
