The Federation Council appointed Judge Irina Podnosova to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court and head of the Economic Collegium of the Supreme Court, reports . RIA Novosti
Podnosova’s candidacy for the Federation Council was nominated by President Vladimir Putin, with whom she graduated from the Faculty of Law of Leningrad Zhdanov University in 1975.
Despite her appointment as head of the economics board, Podnosova has no experience in the arbitration system. Since the 1990s, she worked as a judge in the Luga City Court of the Leningrad Region and headed it. Later, Podnosova held senior positions in the Leningrad Regional Court.
In 2018, the judge was appointed chairwoman of the Second Court of Appeal, which hears appeals against decisions of other courts.
Kommersant, citing sources , wrote that in the judicial system Podnosova is considered a very influential person, “since everyone understands who is behind her.”
