The court arrested the leader of the Left Front Sergey Udaltsov

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow appointed the leader of the Left Front Sergey Udaltsov 10 days of administrative arrest. He announced a hunger strike. This was reported by a lawyer from the OVD-info Vasily Kushnir.

Sergey Udaltsov was found guilty under an article on the organization of a public event (part 2 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to posts on VKontakte, where he invited readers on July 25 to submit applications to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to verify the restrictions on rallies and revise the affairs of political prisoners.

The lawyer drew the attention of the court that the event on July 25 did not have formal signs of a rally. The protocol, which the police made, contradicts their reports: one of the police officers wrote that an individual submission of applications is not a mass event. Sergei Udaltsov himself suggested that he was arrested in order to leave administrative supervision.

Udaltsov asked the judge to choose a punishment not related to arrest, since in this case he would not be able to work and help the elderly mother, who needs care.

On the eve of Udaltsov was detained at the exit of the house. The police issued a protocol on it and left it for the night before the trial.

On July 29, the Moscow City Court upheld the decision on the arrest of a politician, according to a lawyer from the ATS-Info Vasily Kushnir.

Protection in the appeal was carried out by lawyers Violett Volkov and Vasily Kushnir.

• In Moscow, on July 25, at least 26 people were detained near the Dolgoruky monument, who were going to apply to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to check the restrictions on rallies and revise the affairs of political prisoners.
