In the Moscow region, on the night of July 29, about 20 SOBR officers detained Yan Katelevsky and Alexander Dorogov, journalists from the publication Rosderzhava. A colleague of the journalists, Andrei Orel, as well as Dorogov’s lawyer, Vladislav Lunkov, told OVD-Info about this.

The reason for the arrest, according to Orel, was a criminal case under the article on extortion (clause “b”, part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code), which was opened against Dorogov at the request of a traffic police officer: the journalist allegedly demanded 1.3 million rubles from the security officer. It is possible that a case under the same article was opened against Katelevsky, but there is no confirmation of this yet.

The journalists themselves have a criminal case ordered and fabricated against them because of their professional activities and investigations, which they published, including on their YouTube channel.

Orel said that the official reason for Katelevsky’s detention is different: at the moment he is accused of damaging property for hooligan reasons (Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code). Details of the charges are unknown at this time.

Katelevsky himself has already been taken to the Lyubertsy City Court. The investigation asks that the journalist be taken into custody. At the same time, the case is being considered by judge Mikhail Milushov, who, according to Lunkov, is the husband of judge Olga Golysheva, whom Katelevsky has criticized more than once, believing that she fabricated against him.

administrative cases As Vladislav Lunkov said, Alexandra Dorogova was arrested in absentia on July 28 by Tverskoy District Court Judge Ksenia Panova. The reason for this was a petition from the investigation, which decided that the journalist had left the country.

Lunkov claims that Dorogov did not leave Russia. Nevertheless, on July 17, the investigation, guided by “received information,” put Dorogov on the international wanted list.

“On May 21 [against Alexander Dorogov] a criminal case was initiated under paragraph “b” of part 3 of article 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The funny thing is that it was canceled on July 17th. Already on July 17, 2020, he was put on the wanted list, and on July 14, in his absence - that is, without notifying anyone - he was charged with committing a crime,” lawyer Lunkov said in a conversation with OVD-Info.

At the moment, Dorogov is in the temporary detention center in the city of Lobnya.
