The court again recognized as legal the refusal to investigate the beating of a protest participant by a security officer

The Moscow City Court dismissed an appeal against the decision of the Basmanny District Court, which recognized as legitimate the refusal of the Investigative Committee to investigate the beating of Darya Sosnovskaya by security forces at the protests on August 10, 2019 in Moscow. This is reported by MBKh Media with reference to the lawyer of the Zone of Law Tatyana Molokanova.

Sosnovskaya's defense plans to file a complaint with the ECtHR.

In March 2020, the Moscow City Court overturned the Basmanny District Court's refusal to accept Daria Sosnovskaya's complaint about the inaction of the Investigative Committee and returned the case to the Basmanny Court. The court of first instance in June repeatedly refused to respond to the inaction of the investigation.
The Investigative Committee refused to conduct a check on the girl's statement about the use of violence against her, redirecting the statement to the National Guard. From there, the application was again redirected - this time to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In the Department of Internal Affairs for the Central Administrative District, the actions of the policeman who detained Sosnovskaya were explained by her attempt to prevent the policeman from picking up a baton from the ground.
Daria Sosnovskaya was detained on August 10, 2019 in the center of Moscow to protest against violations during the election campaign to the Moscow City Duma. During the arrest, a police officer struck the girl in the stomach and in the head. Sosnovskaya turned to the Investigative Committee with a statement about the crime committed against her.
On August 10, an agreed-upon rally for fair elections took place in Moscow on Sakharov Avenue. It was attended by about 60 thousand people. After the rally, some of the participants headed towards Chistye Prudy and Kitay-Gorod, where they were detained. According to OVD-Info, 256 people were detained in Moscow that day.
