Valery Limarenko

Activists in the city of Okha on Sakhalin were not allowed to meet the head of the region Valery Limarenko with local residents. Only those who were indicated by representatives of the regional government were made to the meeting, writes Sakhalin.info.

According to the activists, after the locals gathered to meet with Limarenko, representatives of the regional authorities asked to stay in the hall only those who are in the list they brought with them.

Among the activists was the former mayor of Okha Sergey Gusev, dismissed by the head of the region. Before the resignation of the last chosen mayor on Sakhalin in Oha, rallies were defended in his defense. “We just left and will not humiliate ourselves in front of him. He does not want to meet with us,” Gusev said and promised to ask the head of the region at a rally on August 8.

About twenty people reported that they did not agree with the position of the head of the region on meetings only with the chosen residents of Okha.

“After all, for the first time after the election he arrived in OHO. We have accumulated a lot of questions, on seismic -resistant houses, roads, gas supply ... Why did he come here at all? He should meet with the people,” says one of the activist Natalya exiled from the head of the region.

  • Okhinsky City Court removed Sergei Gusev from the post of mayor since June 18 due to violation of anti-corruption legislation. The Governor of the Sakhalin Region Valery Limarenko filed an application with the mayor of the Okhtinsky district. The head of the region accused Gusev of hiding from taxes about 1 million rubles of income for 2017 and 2018. The mayor allegedly did not indicate these funds in his declaration. Gusev denied these accusations. He is sure that he became objectionable to the authorities of the region as the last elected mayor of Sakhalin and the communist.
