Police in the center of Khabarovsk detained civil activists Dmitry Timoshenko and Alexander Nuikin, who participated in a rally against the persecution of Sergei Furgal. Journalist of the online publication RusNews Sergei Ainbinder reported this to OVD-Info.
Both detainees were taken to the 4th police department of Khabarovsk. The arrest was broadcast on the RusNews channel on YouTube. When asked about the reasons for the arrest, the police replied that “we’ll sort it out now.”
During the arrest, police pulled the activists out of the taxi car.
16:30 A lawyer from OVD-Info, Andrei Bityutsky, went to the police department to see the detainees. The sister of one of the detainees reported that they refused to let her into the police department.
17:15 Activatica correspondent Ekaterina Biyak was also detained in Khabarovsk. She managed to tell her friend Sabina Narymbaeva about this, after which she stopped communicating. According to other activists, she was most likely detained near the 4th police department. The lawyer is not allowed into the police department to see the detainees.
18:30 As reported by OVD-Info “Activatica”, correspondent Ekaterina Biyak was not detained.
20:05 Detainees Dmitry Timoshenko and Alexander Nuykin were left at the police station overnight until the trial. They drew up protocols on participation in the action, which resulted in disruptions in the functioning of the infrastructure (Part 6.1, Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). This was reported by lawyer from OVD-Info Andrei Bityutsky.
Previously, it was erroneously stated that the action was related to the persecution of the creator of the “Police Ombudsman” public page, Vladimir Vorontsov.
