The lawyer clarified the circumstances of the beating of the arrested Rosderzhava journalist

Vladislav Lunkov, lawyer for Rosderzhava journalist Alexander Dorogov, clarified the information about the beating of his client by security forces. The lawyer provided the details in a conversation with OVD-Info.

According to Lunkov, Dorogov was beaten only during his arrest. Earlier it was reported that the journalist was beaten again in the temporary detention facility. However, this information was not confirmed: Dorogov was indeed taken away by ambulance twice, after his arrest and after being placed in a temporary detention facility. At the same time, the ambulance arrived at the temporary detention facility not because the journalist was beaten again, but because the painkillers that doctors gave Dorogov after the beating during his arrest had worn off.

“Today I met with him [ the lawyer - OVD-Info] and actually recorded his comment on camera. He says that he was beaten severely during the arrest, and beaten so technically that it was not visually visible, they beat him on the joints, on the collarbones, in places where it was invisible. He [ Dorogova - OVD-Info] was taken to the hospital and given painkillers. And after that, when the investigative actions had already begun, a day later, an ambulance came to see him, which is why they concluded that he was beaten again. But on this day the ambulance simply came because his painkiller had run out and he felt bad. That is, he was not beaten a second time in the temporary detention center, but an ambulance was simply called for him, because after the beating during his arrest he felt bad, he was pounding, shaking, and he was in severe pain,” he clarified the situation in a conversation with OVD-Info activist Andrey Orel.

• Alexander Dorogov is being held in a temporary detention center in Lobnya, near Moscow. He was arrested in absentia on July 28.
• In the Moscow region, on the night of July 29, about 20 SOBR officers detained Yan Katelevsky and Alexander Dorogov, journalists from the publication Rosderzhava. The next day, Katelevsky was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
• The arrest was carried out as part of a criminal case under the article on extortion (clause “b” of Part 3 of Article 163 of the Criminal Code), which was initiated against Dorogov at the request of a traffic police officer: the journalist allegedly demanded 1.3 million rubles from the security officer. It is possible that a case under the same article was opened against Katelevsky, but there is no confirmation of this yet. Officially, Katelevsky was charged with damaging property for hooligan reasons (Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code).
• The journalists themselves consider this criminal case to be ordered and fabricated against them because of their professional activities and investigations, which they published, including on their YouTube channel.
