The Ministry of Health of Abkhazia warned about an increase in the number of infection with coronavirus after the opening of the border with Russia

The Deputy Minister of Health of Abkhazia Alhas Kondjaria said that the opening of the border with Russia will lead to an increase in cases of infection with coronavirus in the republic. The application is published on a Facebook page.

“Already at this stage we understand that it will be extremely difficult to cope with such a stream of patients, and by adding to our population those who come, we will simply“ go across ”and we will not be able to help our citizens or anyone else,” Kondigaria said.

According to him, even before the opening of the border of Russia and Abkhazia, the Covid-19 outbreak occurred in the republic. Eight to ten new cases of disease are recorded every day in the region.

“It was a surprise for us that the opening occurred so at once, a number of stages were not developed, and the border simply opened completely and anyone can call today,” Kondigaria said.

According to the latest official data, in Abkhazia coronavirus was revealed in 98 people, of which three died.
