In Sarapul, Udmurtia, a picketer was detained at a single picket in support of Khabarovsk

In the city of Sarapul in Udmurtia, on August 1, Andrei Lyapkusov, a member of the local branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, was detained, who spoke in support of Khabarovsk residents and the arrested ex-governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Sergei Furgal. This was reported by the publication “Idel.Realii”.

Lyapkusov held a single picket with a poster “Khabarovsk, we are with you.” He was taken to the police department, where he was searched, fingerprinted and photographed (which is not required if the detainee’s identity is established using a passport). Under the threat of drawing up a report, Lyapkusov was forced to turn off his phone. Half an hour later the communist was released.

• The then-current governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Sergei Furgal, was detained on July 9 by FSB officers on suspicion of involvement in a number of contract killings. He was taken to Moscow, where, by decision of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow, he was placed in custody until September 9. On July 16, the Moscow City Court rejected the appeal of Furgal’s defense and recognized this decision as legal. On July 20, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on Furgal’s resignation from the post of governor and appointed Furgal’s fellow party member in the LDPR, Mikhail Degtyarev, to this post as interim, Mediazona reported .
• Since July 11, residents of the Khabarovsk Territory have been holding actions in support of Sergei Furgal, demanding a public trial in Khabarovsk. The July 11 procession through the streets of the regional capital to the government building, according to various estimates, gathered from 5 to 35 thousand people.
