The Ministry of Justice demanded that the lawyers of journalist Safronov be brought to disciplinary liability

The Ministry of Justice appealed to the Moscow Chamber of Lawyers with a demand to bring to disciplinary responsibility the lawyers of the journalist Ivan Safronov, who is being prosecuted under the article on treason. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the head of the human rights association "Team 29" Ivan Pavlov.

The demand concerns lawyers Dmitry Katchev, Daniil Nikiforov, Sergey Malyukin and Oleg Eliseev.

The reason for filing the demand, writes Interfax, was the lawyers' refusal to give a non-disclosure agreement on the preliminary investigation data, which the investigator tried to take on July 13, the day Safronov was charged.

“When they refused, the investigator drew up an act on each of the defense lawyers with the participation of attesting witnesses, and now this fact is used as a reason for disciplinary prosecution of lawyers. We regard this as a way of putting pressure on the defense of Ivan Safronov, ”Pavlov was quoted as saying by the news agency.
