“Are you offending Belarus? No good"

Lukashenko parodied Yeltsin. It turned out better than Putin

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko gave an interview to Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon. Lukashenka remembered Yeltsin a lot and even tried to parody him.

It all started with a discussion of Anatoly Chubais, with whom Lukashenka "was not easy." “Somehow [he and his government] ran into Belarus once again for prices, for energy supplies. <...> And I came to the Kremlin, we negotiated, and then [there was] a general meeting in a narrow circle. We discuss issues, but I'm always in my pocket for a word. I say: "Boris Nikolaevich, what kind of behavior is this of your subordinates." And they're sitting here."

According to Lukashenko, Chubais after that "turned purple in spots." With these words, Lukashenka in an interview with Gordon parodied the former president of Russia: “Do you offend Belarus? Not good, comrade Chubais." Lukashenka noted that he still remembers this phrase. According to him, after Yeltsin's reaction, Belarus and Russia returned to the previous agreements within an hour. “Class,” said Dmitry Gordon.

It must be said that Lukashenka did better in portraying Yeltsin than Putin. In fact, he didn't really try.
