On August 6, the Lublin court of Moscow sentenced the defendants in the case of "new greatness" . According to investigators, seven young people planned to seize power in Russia and cancel the constitution. The defendants denied the guilt - and insisted that they became victims of provocation by the real leader of the organization, who took place in the case as a witness. Despite this, they received up to seven years in the colony. Kristina Safonova, Special Corps of Medusa, followed the verdict.

“I know that an illegal action is accomplished in this court. We all know that the court requires only blood, ”the activist Pavel Chrisevich shouts on the steps of the Lublin District Court. There is a police uniform on Krisevich, he holds a mannequin with his left hand. The body of the mannequin is covered with inscriptions: “ Network ”, “ Moscow business ”, “ Tsvetkova ”, “ Prokopyev ”, “ The case of the Khachaturian sisters ”, “Pussy Riot”. On the stomach - calls for freedom and humanity in relation to the defendants in the work of "new greatness."

"We all know that a real sacrifice is being done here!" - continues the pseudo -police and cuts the mannequin throat. Spray of red paint fly in all directions. Chrisevich and mannequin are immediately grabbed by the police.

Two girls who also endowed the police uniform and sprayed pink paint in the courtyard of the court. As well as an elderly man who got into a picket in support of the accused.

At the entrance to the court, a crush begins. Relatives of the accused are in line for the entrance, activists, journalists and those who have not heard about “new greatness” before, but came to the court for other cases.

“Can I go to the office?”, “Skip, we have our own process”, “Let me go in another matter” - annoyed voices from all sides are reported. To all questions, the bailiff at the entrance answers “let us go” and “soon”. But after half an hour, relatives and about 50 journalists are still allowed into the building. Another 150 people remain in the courtyard of the court.

Judge Alexander Maslov reads the verdict very quietly. In the hall where the video broadcast is on and journalists are sitting, it is almost impossible to analyze his speech. However, almost immediately it becomes clear that the verdict is a guilty. Without listening to half, the lawyer of the defendant of the case of Maria Dubovik Maxim Pashkov said that the defense would appeal the decision. People in the yard at this time chant: "Innocent." Activists of “Other Russia” pour the steps of the court with red paint and hang on the fence the banner “Freedom of the Politsyki”. In less than a minute he is removed by the police.

Despite the fact that the defendants repeatedly said that they became victims of the provocation of Ruslan D , the court considers them proven guilty. Judge Maslov explains his position by the fact that the defendants themselves created a chat , "laid the foundation for an extremist community."

The judge emphasizes that the investigators learned about the activities of the “new greatness” without the participation of Ruslan D: they allegedly independently implemented the community, participated in meetings, as well as training in the shooting and manufacture of Molotov cocktails. The testimony of Ruslan D and the implemented employees become the basis of the sentence. The court also accepts the first testimony of one of the defendants in the case - Pavel Rebrovsky. Rebrovsky concluded a deal with the investigation, but after he was sentenced to 2.5 years in April 2019, he said that he had stipulated himself and other accused under pressure from the investigator. The Moscow City Court canceled this sentence and sent Rebrovsky to a new consideration.

The guilt of the defendants, Judge Maslov continues, is also confirmed by the results of three examinations conducted at the request of the investigation. Although two of them were not found in the materials of the “new greatness” of calls and statements that can be unequivocally called extremist.

Reading the sentence takes almost four hours. All this time, lawyers and defendants are forced to stand, shifting from foot to foot. Lawyer Maxim Pashkov complains in his telegram channel on the heat and stuffiness. On the street, police exhibit metal fences at the entrance to the court. People near the building - now there are about 200 of them - chant "innocent" and "do not forget, we will not forgive." In the hall, their screams are not heard.

Judge Maslov still moves on to the deadlines. The defendants do not have aggravating circumstances of the crime, but there are mitigating ones - for example, poor health, positive characteristics or lack of criminal records. Despite this, the judge voices almost the same terms that requested the charge:

Anna Pavlikova - four years conditionally.

Maria Dubovik - six years conditionally.

Maxim Roshchin - six and a half years conditionally.

Six years - the logist Dmitry Poletaev, since the detention in March 2018, who was in jail, was also received. It is released in the courtroom.

Three more defendants received real terms. The 27-year-old Ruslan Kostylenkov, whom the prosecution considers the leader of the “new greatness”-seven years of the colony of general regime (half a year less than the prosecutor's office requested).

34-year-old Peter Karamzin (education lawyer), whom the investigation calls the “head of the legal department” of the extremist community-six and a half. 22-year-old student Vyacheslav Kryukov-six. Investigators considered Kryukov the “member of the Supreme Council” “New Greatness”.

Already on the street, lawyer Maxim Pashkov tells reporters that the main indicator of the illegality of the sentence is the lack of a motive. “Such crimes are characterized by strictly necessarily a motive. The motive must be indicated in the charges. The motive did not indicate the accusation, the prosecutor’s office was profiled, ”Pashkov explains. - The court went sideways this question. But there is no motive in this situation - there is no composition. Purely formal moment. But this, as they say, is a spot on the entire Red Army. ”

The crowd applauds the lawyers of the defendants and chants "thank you." But those who have just received conditional terms do not look happy. Dubovik continues to cry - several women are trying to console her. One of them, holding a cigarette in his hands, repeats: “Smoke, drink what you want, I myself am very bad!”

Maxim Roshchin tells reporters that he will dispute the verdict. “I am in the register of Rosfinmonitoring, I can’t even use the [banking] card. And without a card, I can’t even get a job. ”

Anna Pavlikova refuses to communicate with reporters until the verdict enters into legal force: under the terms of house arrest, she is forbidden to give an interview. But her sister says that tomorrow Anna, most likely, will go to the Vladimir region, to colony No. 2, where her husband Konstantin Kotov is serving a sentence under the “Dadine” article . They have not seen each other since the wedding day, which took place on October 17 in the SIZO Sailor Silence.

Away from the crowd is Tatyana Kolobakina - a friend of Ruslan Kostylenkova. During the investigation and trial, Ruslan died father and grandfather, Tanya remains the only close person for him. She suggests that Kostylenkov perceived the verdict “very badly” - he hoped to get no more than six years.

“Even six, five years for us was a very serious blow. Because we still hoped that [the sentence of punishment] would be according to the sewn [in jail], given that this invented organization did nothing and Ruslan did nothing, and they did not do everything, ”says Kolobakina.

The girl emphasizes: in the letters Kostylenkov wrote that "he is not going to sit so much." And adds: “This period simply killed him. The man lost everything, but today he lost freedom. I know for sure that for him this period is a death sentence. ”
