Drivers staged a protest on Independence Avenue in Minsk. They honked and played Tsoi’s song “Change!”

In Minsk, on Independence Avenue - the main street of the city - a rally was held in support of two sound engineers who were imprisoned for 10 days for turning on Viktor Tsoi's song "Change!" at a concert organized by the authorities.

According to Tut.by, approximately half an hour after the start of the rally on Independence Avenue, the traffic police began to block it. After 20:00 traffic resumed.

A concert organized by the authorities, at which sound engineers Kirill Galanov and Vladislav Sokolovsky turned on "Change!", was held in Minsk on August 6. Galanov and Sokolovsky were accused of petty hooliganism and disobedience to the police.

At the trial, which took place the next day, Galanov said: “I was engaged in hooliganism as soon as I came to the site. And not on my own behalf, but on behalf of the organizers - the Palace of Children and Youth. This whole concert was hooliganism, and I admit the guilt that I participated in this.

• Numerous supporters of Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya came to the pro-government concert on August 6 after she had to cancel a planned rally elsewhere in the city. Tikhanovskaya is the main rival of Alexander Lukashenko, who is running for a sixth term. Elections in Belarus will be held on August 9.
