The Oktyabrsky District Court of Ulan-Ude fined deputy of the Pribaikalsky municipal formation Nikolai Tikhonov 20 thousand rubles, who traveled around the city and invited people through a loudspeaker to a rally against deforestation around Lake Baikal. Tikhonov himself reported this to OVD-Info.
The young politician, who is also a deputy of the Federal Chamber of Deputies of the SR party, was found guilty under Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code (organizing an uncoordinated mass event). The rally to which Tikhonov called people was dedicated to the new law allowing clear cutting of forests near Lake Baikal.
Tikhonov was detained only on August 7, that is, two days after his action with a loudspeaker. As the OVD-Info deputy said, before this the police called his friends, asked about his whereabouts, and also looked for him through traffic police inspectors.
The protocol that the police drew up against him states that Tikhonov “organized a public event by notifying possible participants... namely, using a loud-speaking device, while driving a vehicle, he shouted to all passing citizens, “Let’s protect Baikal, on Saturday 12:00 come to the rally on the square. Soviets."
