In Belarus, on August 9, more than 100 people were detained during the voting and during protests after it. The calculations are carried out by the human rights center “Viasna”. This is the first data on the number of detainees.
At least 54 people were detained in Minsk, most of them observers, including several journalists (including three Dozhd employees who have already been released). In other regions of the country, 72 people were detained.
The police, Interfax reports, have officially confirmed that “detentions are now taking place at unauthorized events.” The press service noted that there is no generalized data on the number of detainees.
